Supported.
Current state
Codex CLI is supported as an evidence-aware coding agent.
Enable flow
When you run skillcraft enable --agent codex, Skillcraft writes repo-local Codex integration files:
.codex/hooks.json.codex/config.toml.agents/plugins/marketplace.jsonplugins/skillcraft-codex/
The Codex hook writes runtime model provenance to:
.git/skillcraft/ai-model-context.json
Captured provenance fields
agent.providermodel.namemodel.providerwhen Codex exposes it to the hook payload
These values are merged into each generated proof.
Skill support
Skillcraft has partial Codex skill support today. It records explicit skill usage by reading the current turn transcript from Codex's rollout file after the turn finishes.
This is implemented through repo-local Codex hooks, so Skillcraft can support Codex skill proofs without waiting for a dedicated Codex skill hook event.
Limitations
- Current released Codex skill support is partial and captures explicit skill usage only.
- Implicit skill usage detected from Bash command execution is not yet exposed by Codex's public hook payloads.
- An upstream Codex issue has been raised to add first-class
PreSkillUseandPostSkillUsehooks for explicit and implicit skill usage. Track it in openai/codex#17132 (opens in a new tab). - Codex Learn Mode is not enabled yet. If both OpenCode and Codex are installed,
skillcraft learncurrently requires choosing OpenCode.
Notes
- Repo-local Codex config is only active when the project is trusted in Codex.
- Restart Codex after enabling so it picks up the generated repo-local config and marketplace files.
- Skillcraft only manages repo-local Codex files for the current project.
